"Just fear me, love me,
do as I say, and I will
be your slave!"

Labyrinth. Since I first saw it in the theater at the age of 8, I have been obsessed - by now I have watched it hundreds of times. I have fallen in love with Jareth, identified myself with Sarah (we share the same name, after all), and have come to see my entire life as a similar adventure through such a labyrinth. I have the soundtrack and the original comic books (I'd have more memorabilia if I could afford to spend my whole paycheck on ebay!), I've visited all the big fan websites (and found others just as obsessed), I downloaded the script and sound clips (which you can find through the links below).

I have analyzed every second of this film, I have created elaborate background stories, a history never mentioned in the movie. I've solved the riddles, found the discrepancies, but more than anything I have wished over and over for a different ending - Sarah stays with Jareth in the Labyrinth, and they raise Toby as their own child. But every time, in the end, she defeats him. Such a pity.

This movie was the impetus for this entire theory, the realization of a "girls underground" archetype present in so many modern stories. Perhaps it was because I've lived Sarah for so long that it was the first to occur to me.
