My Religious Tattoos

My first tat, ivy circling my right ankle, with my maenadic name in Greek. Of course my first was for Dionysos (as was my most recent, the tenth)
(Ernie at Portland Tattoo in Portland ME)

Snake curling its way down my left arm. The snake represents transformation, death & rebirth, the underworld - and it also is connected to each of my patron gods in a different way.
(Jennifer Moore at Sanctuary Tattoo in Portland ME - highly recommended!!)
(Spirals added later, at Element Tattoo in Bozeman, MT)

The word di-pi-si-jo-i in Linear B (the language of the Mycenaeans) across the back of my neck. It literally means "the thirsty ones" and refers to the dead and how they need to be given libations and offerings.
(Jennifer Moore)

The key from the Sandman graphic novel, on my right forearm. I liked this particular design, but the meaning is more personal, having to do with being a door between the worlds.
(Jennifer Moore)

Herm covered in laurel on my left leg, representing both Hermes and Apollon at once. I had it done as a specific devotional offering in thanks for a gift.
(Jennifer Moore)

Mountain Lion, what you might call my animal self, on my right leg, above the ivy.
(Jennifer Moore)

The "Erlkonig" is the Erl-King, the Elf King of the Black Forest in Germany. This is a sort of use-name for one of my spirits. With oak leaves on either side, on the inside of my left wrist.
(SIC Tattoo, Bozeman, MT)

Below the "thirsty ones", a symbol representing a forest and a well (in very basic terms) through a door - again, having to do with being a door between the worlds.
(High Priestess Tattoo, Eugene, OR)

Again, ivy - twining around my upper right arm, as a gift to Dionysos (as well as his gift to me)
(Anthony at Black Lotus Tattoo, Eugene, OR)
